Social Friday: Group Ride to Town Hall with Elizabeth Warren (D)

It will be a FUN-AND-NOT-TOO-LONG bike ride & opportunity to get to know one of the many candidates for Democratic Party’s nomination for the 2020 election – Elizabeth Warren at Chicago Town Hall with Elizabeth Warren.

Everyone is welcome to join the ride or join us there! Please RSVP here so we have an approximate head count! Will be leaving the shop at 4 pm sharp!

We will leave the shop at 4 pm and ride to Auditorium Theater downtown to make it on time for a 6:15 pm start.

Note, this does not demonstrate our political support to any particular candidate. This is a purely an educational field trip!

RSVP or invite your friends on Facebook.

Reserve your seat on Eventbrite – it’s $30 to reserve, or you may try getting in the same day for a sliding scale donation but be warned, this event will fill up!

How does a bicycle wheel support 300 times its own weight? What makes the perfect wheel? Join The Recyclery for a seminar and Q&A about wheels, wheelbuilding, and bicycle physics with Bill Mould.

Bill Mould is an expert designer and builder of custom bicycle wheels. He has built over 5,000 wheels of every possible design, and he uses his knowledge of physics and engineering to publish articles and animated videos about bicycle wheels. As a Yale-trained scientist, Bill is a frequent and popular speaker at bicycle symposiums and conventions. He has a unique ability to explain complex scientific and engineering principles so that they can be understood at least at the conceptual level. He is also a member of the ASTM bicycle committee that combines the contributions of industry scientists and engineers to define internationally required safety standards. Bill’s passion is teaching how to build the perfect wheel.

Reserve a ticket online, or pay what you can at the door (warning: this event will fill up!).

148 Days In Africa On A Tandem Bike

Join us for an evening of storytelling and adventure sharing.

Friday, March 29 at 6:30 pm

You can RSVP or invite your friends on Facebook.

Igna and Tomas, our long-time volunteers, have just gotten back from a superb 5-month bicycle tour in the well stereotyped continent of Africa.

It’s not your casual bike tour – it’s a TANDEM bike tour! Thus, double the fun 😍

The couple explored Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania, the 3 unique countries of the cradle of humanity and will be answering the most FAQ, including:

🚲 How they breathlessly pushed through the highest peaks
🚲 Why Ethiopian children throw rocks at cyclists
🚲 How Tomas and Tomas kindled their friendship in a faraway tribal home
🚲 How Christian missionaries helped them through the Kenyan desert
🚲 What made them detour another 800 km
🚲 How they found “the real Africa” in Tanzania
🚲 What did they get from a local millionaire
🚲 Why Igna cried on the shores of the Indian Ocean

🦁 🐆 🐘 🐝

As a gratitude to the Recyclery for hosting and supporting this presentation, Igna and Tomas are kindly asking guests to make a DONATION at the door. Does $20 sound OK? Regardless of your contribution – no one will be left standing outside.
