How to Thank The Recyclery

Thanksgiving Day is only a week away and we would like to first thank YOU for all your help and support. The Recyclery would be nothing without the community it serves!

If you wish to thank us back, consider buying a smaller turkey for the holiday and give the difference to our fundraiser. Your donations will be put towards space security and essentially will help us keep the lights on!

Here is what a small donation can buy us:

$5 = one tire for a Freecyclery bike

$10 = a whole Freecyclery wheel!

$20 = a set of wrenches for Open Shop

$50 or more = investment to a secure shop!

January and February Classes

dsc_0056

Hi! We have two classes scheduled–both starting in 2017.

Sign up for a class here!

Tune-Up Class
January 8th & 15th
Sunday evenings 6-9pm

Our two-part bicycle tune-up classes are taught by Tzippy. This class will introduce you to basic bicycle maintenance. We’ll cover tool and component terminology, fixing a flat, chain maintenance, brake pad replacement, and basic shifting adjustments. We’ll also provide some tips for getting through the winter! Costs $75 or $95 with shirt and poster.

Overhaul Class
February 5th – March 12
Sunday afternoons 2-5pm

Our six-week overhaul class taught by Matt. You’ll learn how to disassemble, reassemble, and adjust each major mechanical system of your bicycle week-by-week. Costs $180 or $200 with shirt and poster.

2nd Annual Tailwind for Tools has launched!

It’s that time of year again. Our spooky bike-o-spider is proudly guarding the shop window, and piles of golden leaves are swarming in through the back door. As the seasons change, we need a strong tailwind to push us through the rest of the year.

This Halloween, we’re launching second annual Tailwind for Tools fundraiser. This holiday might be spooky, but it’s also about sharing. Thus, we encourage you to share with us as well.

Give us a treat via the button below! And share this message with seven friends of yours, or the old witch on a bike will put a flat tire spell on you. 😉

Our Mission

The Recyclery Collective is an educational bike shop that promotes sustainability by giving access to tools, skills, and opportunities for collaboration.

Our Vision

We envision a diverse, resilient neighborhood filled with knowledgeable, self-reliant cyclists.

Our Values

  • Collaboration: We create opportunities for people of all backgrounds to work, share, and learn together to support a practical form of transportation.
  • Social Justice: We provide tools and resources to empower underserved populations and nurture community leaders.
  • Ecological Sustainability: We encourage the mindful use of resources and promote cycling as a part of building more resilient communities.
  • Celebrating Everything We Do: We like to have fun while working hard to make bicycles and mechanics accessible.

Our Structure

The Recyclery is a 501c3 non-profit run primarily by volunteers. All major decisions are made by a quorum of collective members at a twice-a-month meeting. The Collective follows a consensus decision making model and is open to anyone willing to put in the time and effort to fulfill collective entry requirements. A few staff members are paid for administrative tasks, fixing bikes for sale, and teaching classes. Meet our collective and staff members here.

Our Support

The Recyclery is grateful for all the support we receive from the wider community.
